Aggressive parodontitis
This form of parodontitis is characterised by a particularly aggressive course of the disease. Considerable loss of parodontal structures occurs within a short period of time. The amount of bacterial plaque does not correlate with the severity of clinical findings. Massive bone deterioration, deep parodontal pockets and considerable inflammatory reactions at the marginal parodont with increased pocket secretion occur despite relatively low amounts of plaque and relatively good oral hygiene.
Aggressive parodontitis can occur either localised or generalised.
